  13. respond: to do something in reaction to something else
  14. channel: path through which water flows
  15. distribute: to pass out or deliver
  16. correspond: to match or agree with
  17. deforestation: a loss of forest cover in a region
  18. biodiversity: a richness of different kinds of living things in a region
  19. civil engineering: technology for building structures that alter the landscape, such as dams, roads, and bridges
  20. pollution: waste, usually man-made, that makes the air, water, or soil less clean
  21. interaction: the process of acting together
  22. transform: to change the form or look of
  23. domesticated: tamed to be used by humans
  24. prosperity: the condition of being successful or wealthy
